Colorful Birds from Aug 28

Psychadelic Kichwa
Cockatiel Greeting
King Kichwa in Crystal Seed Dish

Aug 28th, with my young charge Young-bin.

Our favorite activity is still sketching and drawing. We look through my photos and select our favorites, then try to make a drawing from the photo. This post includes some of the results. Some are truer to the photo than others. Enjoy.

Loose Pen Sketch Dump: Aug 21st

Peachface Lovebird in my Interpretation of a Tree

I do most sketching when I work with my young charge, a little Korean girl named Young-bin. On this day Young-bin had to read the legend of Arachne, and was supposed to be drawing pictures of her interpretation of the story. I tried my hand at it. I want to develop a loose style. Seems I have been away from art so long I forgot what my style is and I'm waiting for one to emerge.

Birds to Fashion: Gang Gang Cockatoo (Concept)

Came out nicer than the final product-first time playing with copic markers (alcohol based) LOVE LOVE LOVE at first use!

A Gang Gang Cockatoo

I think my concept pictures came out better than the final product. Anyway, just sharing them on my blog. They're too raw to be posted as a final product on Deviantart.

Watercolor and pen. Approximately 2-3 hours. I regret the decision to include the ink. What do you think?

Malia's Virtual Sketchbook: Open!

This blog is for tracking my progression through whatever mediums I come into contact with and sharing them with family, friends, and whoever out there on the world wide web may gather some pleasure from viewing these works. I used to carry a sketchbook with me like I could never be separated from it back in middle and high school. Those times are over now, but I am turning back to art.

I am here to grow as an artist. I'm currently working in watercolor but my favorite mediums are Prismacolor colored pencils and acrylic paints.

I will share technique websites I find useful and feature the work of other artists. Let me know if you would like me to feature you, submit a guest blog, offer advice, or ask a question.
